Snakes and Spiders

8 08 2007

As with most of the readers of this blog, I come from a nice wee country which has no snakes. None. Not even little ones. I also come from a country with one, kinda over rated, deadly spider (apparently) – which no one has ever really seen.

Today I went for a hike with my friend Nate up in the San Gabriel Mountains (big range of hills near Pasadena). We saw this little fulla. He’s not poisonous, but he looks like a Coral Snake – which is one of the most deadly in the area.

Then, that night, I went walking up these other hills, near Chino, with the Chino High School kids. I was wearing my trusty jandals. Saw a nice view. Only thing is, while walking, we saw not one – but two Tarantulas.

Yeah. In the wild. Running free. Around my jandal clad feet. They were kinda cute, in a deadly, Arachnaphobia – I want to kill you – kind of way.

Hi Glen
Come home! Stop wearing Jandals! Wear boots that KILL! Stay in doors, heavy duty screens on all doors and windows! Make sure you have a good BUG CATCHER handy!
YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!
